Food & Water Safety

  • Biotecon Diagnostics
Since 2004, the use of more sensitive and specific methods has been endorsed by the European Pharmacopoeia (E.P. chapter 5.1.6 and chapter 2.6.1) and by the FDA Aseptic guidelines. Thereby, molecular biological methods are recommended as a faster and more reliable alternative to conventional methods. To meet this need, BIOTECON Diagnostics introduced the microproof® product line in 2005. The microproof® brand includes all BIOTECON Diagnostics’ products used in the pharmaceutical and clinical areas. In addition to the foodproof® product line for food safety, which has been widely used for years, BIOTECON Diagnostics’ portfolio is thus complemented by specific products for the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Biotecon Diagnostics
The foodproof® detection and quantification kits developed and produced by BIOTECON Diagnostics allow fast, simple and reliable detection of pathogens, spoilage organisms, allergens, genetically modified plants and viruses in a variety of samples, such as fruit juices, beer, chocolate, baby food, spices or meat. Our analyses are based on real-time PCR, a simple and proven solution for the reliable detection of genetic information (nucleic acids). The high quality of our foodproof® products has repeatedly been validated and confirmed by independent institutes such as AOAC, NordVal and MicroVal.
    • Fast – Detection by real-time PCR in a few hours
    • Easy – Simple implementation and user-friendly handling
    • Specific – Accurate results for target organisms
    • Sensitive – Safe detection of even the smallest quantities
    • Safe – Validated systems, confirmation of results with included controls
For nucleic acid extraction, we offer optimized and validated foodproof® Sample Preparation Kits compatible with every foodproof® real-time PCR kit.
  • The complete 3M Sample Handling Collection. Better testing begins with better samples – and better samples are obtained when you use the best collection tools. 3M™ Sample Collection, Preparation and Processing solutions provide quality products for every step of your process. Convenient, ready-to-use products. Consistent, reliable results. Every time. Choosing a sampling sponge. When determining which sampling sponge to use, it’s important to consider certain factors in your testing process:
    • Bacteria
    • Biocides
    • Environment
    • Strength
    • Consistency
    • Temperature

Precise determination of somatic cell counts in all types of raw milk Semi-automatic and automatic versions from 100 up to 300 samples/hour The SomaCount FC delivers a rapid and accurate measurement somatic cell counts (SCC) for early mastitis detection in dairy milk. The smallest and most accurate instrument available for the counting of somatic cells in raw milk. Robust and reliable, it is used in both regulatory and high performing dairy laboratories around the globe. Flow cytometry at its best. For any laboratory where precision and performance is essential. It guarantees the accurate counting of somatic cells in milk at a maximum speed of 300 samples/hour (6 versions available: manual, 100, 150, 200, 250 and 300). The automatic SomaCount FC version is coupled to a conveyor system.

Spoilage describes the process of natural food decay, which includes a significant decline in quality (color, consistency, smell, and taste) but without causing illness. Causes of food spoilage include decomposition processes caused by bacteria and fungi. Possible unwanted metabolites produced include organic acids, alcohols, ketones, amino acids and ammonia.
